About

Joel Souchotte is the President and Founder of Leadout Development.  Joel has over two decades of experience in real estate development with some of the largest and most well-respected real estate and construction companies in Western Canada.  Joel has worked on some extremely complex projects over multiple asset classes including multifamily, mixed-use, commercial and industrial.  A former executive Vice President with a Calgary based company, Joel has built and led numerous project teams managing annual development programs in excess of $50M for the past 8 years, prior to founding Leadout Development.  Joel’s extensive experience in retail development also specializes in drive-thru and sit-down restaurants having completed over a dozen restaurants in past roles as Project Manager and Director, Development, including many internationally recognized brands.  Over the course of his career to date, Joel has been involved in projects with a cumulative construction value exceeding $500M, including iconic local projects such as the $189M Chinook Centre Expansion and $30M Canada’s Sport Hall of Fame at Canada Olympic Park.  Joel has worked his entire career in Calgary, amassing a vast network of contacts that he leverages to successfully execute real estate development projects across the city.

Joel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alberta and is a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).  Joel is also a Gold Seal Certified Project Manager with the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) and is working towards completion of a Certificate in Applied Land Use Planning with the University of Alberta.

Joel is actively involved in keeping up to date with real estate trends through organizations such as ULI, NAIOP, the Real Estate Forum and ICSC and is a regular attendee at each of these organizations’ key Western Canadian real estate events.
